I love single-serving desserts. They’re usually pretty quick and easy, and they give me just enough sweetness to kill the craving without having the leftovers stare me down for the rest of the week. These Peanut Butter Banana Quesadillas are one of my favorite single-serving quick fixes because they’re just so warm, gooey, and delicious. …And I usually have the ingredients on hand! 🥰
And P.S. I’m using the word quesadilla figuratively here. There is no cheese in this dessert “quesadilla.”
What’s in a Peanut Butter Banana Quesadilla?
Well, peanut butter and sliced bananas, obviously, but there’s also a little sprinkle-sprankle of chocolate chips in there that get all melty and delicious as the quesadilla cooks in the skillet! The banana gets a little soft and extra sweet themselves, then it’s all contrasted by the slightly salty peanut butter and crispy tortilla. It’s really quite perfect.
What Else Can I Add?
This quick dessert is quite flexible, as you can imagine. Here are some other things you can add into your “quesadilla” if you have them on hand:
- Shredded coconut
- Butterscotch chips
- Strawberry or raspberry jam
- Mini marshmallows
- Cinnamon
- Honey (in place of the chocolate chips)
- Almond butter (in place of the peanut butter)
- Ground flaxseed

How to Make Peanut Butter Banana Quesadillas – Step by Step Photos
You’ll need one 7 or 8-inch flour tortilla for this recipe, ½ a banana (sliced), a couple tablespoons of peanut butter, and about a tablespoon of chocolate chips.
Spread the peanut butter over the surface of the tortilla.
Add the banana slices and chocolate chips over one half of the tortilla, then fold it to close. The peanut butter acts as sort of a glue to hold it together (similar to how cheese holds a regular quesadilla together).
Cook the quesadilla in a skillet over medium heat until it’s golden brown and crispy on both sides and the chocolate and banana are a bit melty on the inside. I don’t add any butter or oil to the skillet when I cook the quesadillas, but you can if you want an extra rich quesadilla.
Slice the quesadilla in half and then enjoy that ooey-gooey goodness while still warm!
These are rad, but they technically can’t be called ‘quesadillas’ because there isn’t any cheese in this recipe; the word in Spanish, ‘queso’, is why it is there in the food’s name, ‘quesadilla.’
These look so good and easy! I love bananas and chocolate. I added them to a list of awesome no sandwich lunch ideas at trainedbytoddlers.com. Can’t wait to try out some more of your recipes!
oh holy moly…5 hands down. Don’t know why I didn’t put this together sooner. Beth–you are a genius. I made it right on my panini machine. Perfection!

Awesome healthy-ish snack. Had it for lunch and it filled me up! Would make again.
I made these to go, wrap-style, in a sandwich grill and I couldn’t be happier. I just wrapped them up in aluminium foil and threw them in my handbag – perfect for on-the-go lunch while running to catch a bus from point A to B. I also like to put a little cinnamon and ground cardamom in them for an added kick! :)
Do you use oil to cook your quesadillas?
I like to do mine in a dry non-stick skillet. It makes the outside crispy without being greasy. :)
No queso for this “quesadilla”?!?!?!
I will replace the peanut butter with sunflower butter and try this for an afternoon snack for my son. Yummy can’t wait to see the look on his face.
Made it for mid morning snack before my run! Loved it! I used 1Tbsp of peanut butter, 1 teaspoon of chocolate chips, 1/4 of banana to save on calories :)
Any idea how well these hold up over night? I want to make them for a group meeting tomorrow but will only have access to a stove tonight! I don’t want the tortilla to get soggy or for it to taste bad somehow.
Hmm, well, I do think they will get soggy in the fridge. Tortillas don’t seem to hold their crispness during storage.
This recipe looks so good, that my mouth is WATERING! Instead of using wheat flour tortillas, is it possible that I can use regular tortillas-because I don’t like the texture of wheat flour tortillas.
Yes, absolutely. :)
Can also be baked in toaster oven
All the guests I have served this to have loved this! Definitely a recipe that is going in the keeper recipe book. The best part besides tasting so good, they are super easy to make!!! On one half I spread Nutella and on the other half I spread peanut butter. I put sliced bananas and sliced strawberries on the inside and serve it with a small scoop of ice cream.
These are great!!
